Love Local Flowers

Supporting local flower farmers is a great way to add beauty and joy to your home, while also directly supporting the local economy. While going to the store and purchasing cut flowers may be easier in some cases, there are many reasons why you should consider buying locally sourced flowers for your home.

Supporting Local Farmers

When you purchase locally grown flowers, you’re helping support small businesses that are often family-run operations. These businesses typically limit chemicals or pesticides on their plants, so you can feel good about buying from them knowing that your purchase supports sustainable practices. At Barn Blooms I use organic fertilizer and pest management practices. I live right where I work, my dogs are running through the flowers, I want them to be as clean and as fresh as possible. Additionally, when you buy from a local flower farmer, you know exactly where your money is going and who it’s helping; when you buy from the store, it’s not always clear who profits from your purchase beyond the big box retailer.

Uniqueness of Varieties

When you buy locally grown flowers directly from a farmer, they will likely have rarer varieties than what’s available in stores. This means that besides adding color and beauty to your home, these rarer varieties can help create a unique experience for visitors! Some flowers like Lisianthus Dahlias, and Ranunculus don’t ship well on planes out of water. For that reason those varieties grown right on our farm are absolute stunners! Our lisianthus can have five flower blooms on one stem sometimes! They also have a super long vase life of almost two weeks!

Freshness

Finally, because these flowers are freshly cut straight from the farm before being brought to the flower stand or put into subscription jars—they last much longer than floral bouquets purchased at stores which may have been sitting there for days or weeks before being purchased. Each flower has a different vase life, but I try to offer tips on how to best care for your cut flowers and ideas on how to incorporate them in your decor.
